OPTION 3
Nexterra is an independent damage appraiser. We inspect your vehicle, document the damage, and provide the estimate to your insurance carrier.
We do not make the total loss determination, we do not value your vehicle, and we do not issue settlement payments. Those decisions belong to your insurance carrier.
Your carrier reviews our damage estimate alongside your vehicle's value and salvage value, then contacts you directly with their determination.
A vehicle is generally declared a total loss when the cost to repair it, combined with its salvage value, exceeds what the vehicle is worth. It is a valuation decision, not a statement that the vehicle couldn't be fixed.
Your vehicle's valuation, the comparable vehicles used to set it, and your settlement amount and timing.
Loan or lease payoff, lienholder handling, gap coverage, and title transfer.
How long your rental coverage continues once a determination is made.
Whether you may retain the vehicle as owner-retained salvage.
We can explain the damage we documented.
If another storm or incident damages your vehicle after our inspection, contact your adjuster first — we may need to re-inspect once a new claim is opened.
If your carrier determines the vehicle is repairable rather than a total loss, call us and we'll get you scheduled right away.
Begin removing personal belongings — including the trunk, glove box, and under the seats.
Locate your title or your lienholder and loan account information so you're ready when your carrier asks.
Salvage pickup — You may be contacted by a salvage company about collecting your vehicle. This outreach is a normal part of the process, but you are under no obligation to schedule pickup until your adjuster has reviewed the settlement with you.
